Largest in the Middle East over a total area of 94,000 square meters

KUWAIT: Kuwait Livestock Transport and Trading Company (Mawashi) yesterday launched the new Capital governorate slaughterhouse and central livestock market located over a total area of 94,000 square meters in Rai, the largest in the Middle East. Mawashi Chairman Bader Al-Subaei said that the project was executed in 21 months and delivered on schedule and has been operating since Aug 2018 on a trial basis. Subaei added that the project is an integrated one in terms of commercial and other services it provides, noting that besides the automated and manual slaughtering halls, the project includes commercial stores providing various services. "The slaughterhouse has the capacity of 18,000 heads a day," he underlined.

Mawashi CEO Osama Boodai explained that the project comprises of a main building, offices, stores a livestock market, covered auction hall, covered barns, loading and unloading area, warehouses and freezers, 400 parking spaces and a mosque for 400 worshippers, in addition to other facilities. Boodai announced that on the occasion of opening the new slaughterhouse, customers who purchase sheep till the end of Feb would get free slaughtering and cutting services.
