The Real Fouz The Real Fouz

We spend so much time and energy styling and treating our hair, looking for the perfect and latest product to try and neglect the real reason why we have all our hair, which is our scalp. At times we forget that our scalp is living and breathing, and the hair strands are dead. In order to have healthy and growing hair you need to treat and pamper your scalp, especially when you're living in a region of extreme cold or hot weather. When your scalp starts to become dry, fly and itchy that's its way of telling you to give it a break.

We don't realize that all the hair products we use such as hairspray, wax, hair oil and so on tend to create build up on your scalp which clogs your pores and results in having greasy hair and slow hair growth. A scalp detox treatment includes massaging in a mask to exfoliate the scalp, which unclogs your pores of dead skin and removes toxins from the hair follicles, roots, and oil glands. Shampooing isn't enough to clean your scalp, therefore I've typed up a few DIY home recipes to detoxify your scalp!

1.    Baking soda is a natural cleansing ingredient which absorbs all of the oil in your hair, olive oil locks in the moisture in your hair and fights dandruff to allow faster hair growth and the last ingredient is cinnamon powder which prevents fungal and bacterial infections of the scalp. Mix all three ingredients together and massage into your scalp for about 10-15 minutes then shampoo and condition as usual. This mask is considered to be a deep clarifying cleanse and shouldn't be done more than a month.

2.    An exfoliating scalp mask:

Brown sugar and Oatmeal scrub; add 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and oatmeal to your conditioner and massage it into your scalp after you're done with shampooing. This mask will help exfoliate your scalp to unplug your pores as well as add moisture to your scalp.

3.    Salt and Olive Oil

This mixture stimulates hair growth and as well exfoliates the scalp without drying it out and plugging your pores.

Also, try getting your hands on a Scalp Brush, the tiny bristles are made almost as the same size as your pores in your scalp, which allows the brush to gently exfoliate your scalp as well as pores every time you use this brush. This has been the go to brush for the Japanese for hundreds of years and works just great. This brush can come in handing if you have thick and curly hair you dread brushing after a shower.

Always put in the effort to maintain or improve the health of your hair and scalp as they both go hand in hand. If you don't have a healthy scalp you won't be growing healthy, strong hair. Keep in mind, when you're exfoliating you are massaging your scalp and that improves your blood circulation which allows hair growth and improves the flow of mineral and vitamins into your hair follicles. Having clean unclogged pores will also help your hair grow faster as well as prevents skin conditions and dead cells.
