KUWAIT: Residency detectives arrested an Asian man who attempted to bribe a public employee. The relations and security information department said in a statement that a policeman at the residency detectives said an Indian man offered him KD 1,100 in order to release a detainee who is awaiting deportation.

Liquor brewery busted

Farwaniya security directorate carried out several traffic and security campaigns that resulted in the discovery of a local liquor brewery run by two Sri Lankans, in addition to arresting three Indians distributing liquor, while150 bottles were confiscated. Traffic campaigns resulted in impounding 29 vehicles, handing citations for 67 traffic violations including 25 for parking in disabled designated areas, 25 taxi permit violations, in addition to 19 traffic obstruction violations. Separately, Farwaniya police raided a brothel where 32 men and women were arrested. They are being deported.

Workers injured

Six persons were injured following a fire in a Dhahr house yesterday. Qurain and Mubarak Al-Kabeer fire centers responded to the blaze at a labor residence made of corrugated metal on the roof of a house, which had several cooking gas cylinders. The building was evacuated, and six Asian natioanls were transferred to hospital. Another fire broke out in Zahra, and Subhan center responded. The fire was in a tent inside the house's yard. The fire was put out and no injuries were reported.

Traffic campaign

The traffic sector carried out several traffic campaigns in Kuwait's governorates in the period from July 17 to 23. The campaign resulted in issuing 39,584 violations, impounding 1,500 vehicles, six motorcycles and detaining 35 persons, while 12 expats were sent for deportation for driving without a license.
