KUWAIT: Police questioned a man who was arrested after posting a video online to announce hosting a contest deemed 'in violation of public morals.' The interior ministry's relations and security information department said in a statement released to the press yesterday that as soon as a video clip of a Kuwaiti launching a contest that is alien to Kuwait's traditions was posted online, criminal detectives identified the man and he was summoned. He said the video was for entertainment only, and took it off all his social media accounts, the statement said. He was sent to concerned authorities for further legal action, the ministry noted.


In other news, a 52-year-old Indian man committed suicide by hanging in Ahmadi governorate, according to preliminary investigation results. Police went to the residence, then informed the prosecution, which asked forensics to remove the body. Separately, a Syrian woman filed a debauchery complaint against a compatriot who stalked her in a street after he openly asked her to begin an illegal relationship with him, according to her statements to police. A police source said the woman told Hawally police that the man kept chasing her every time she left her house, but matters escalated when he asked her to meet him, Al-Rai reported yesterday. Detectives are investigating and will question the suspect.


Meanwhile, four persons held up a grocer and stole some products before escaping, Al-Rai reported. The Indian grocer told Mubarak Al-Kabeer police that his shop was stormed by the four suspects, who held him up and stole goods before escaping. Police are investigating. In the meantime, a thief impersonating a detective mugged an Indian man and took KD 70 and his mobile phone. The victim told Bayan police that he was stopped by a man claiming to be a detective, then after seeing his ID, the suspect threatened him and stole his valuables. Detectives are investigating.
