KUWAIT: A robbery took place in the scrap area in Nayaem, when several persons stopped an expatriate claiming to be detectives and robbed KD 6,000 from him, before escaping. Another Indian mechanic fell victim to a person who claimed to be a detective, who beat him and stole KD 300 from him in front of his Jahra house. The Indian told police that while on his way home, a person beat him before robbing his money and escaping.

Embezzlement

The manager of a cosmetics company was arrested by police after she was convicted of embezzlement and sentenced to two years in jail. A security source said a patrol asked the woman to stop and checked her ID. She was found wanted over a KD 30,000 theft from her company. She was sent to concerned authorities.

Bootlegger caught

An Indian man was arrested for using snacks as a cover to sell liquor with the help of a compatriot. Police received information from residents in Jahra about a woman who sold snacks under unsanitary conditions. Police found the woman and searched her bag. They found Indian snacks wrapped in paper, and at the bottom there were four bottles of locally-brewed liquor. The woman was also in violation of residency law. She said another person made agreements with persons he knew and asked her to deliver the liquor and bring the money. She was sent to concerned authorities. - Al-Rai
