KUWAIT: Acting director of the Manpower Public Authority Ahmed Al-Mousa said that he had recently met Interior Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Passports and Residency Affairs Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, adding that they both agreed on a number of suggestions to organize the labor market. Moussa explained that the suggestions included allocating police detective offices at some labor departments with the aim of having more control over visa issuance and detecting any violations. He added that the suggestions also included following up on suspended companies to set special mechanisms to deal with the workers registered with them, in addition to absconders.

In another development, informed sources said that on instructions from Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Minister Hind Al-Subaih, Kuwait Municipality's Acting Director Ahmad Al-Manfouhi visited the Hawally labor department to handle the problem of lack of staff, by transferring some employees from other over-staffed departments.

Court order

The criminal court yesterday acquitted former MP Mubarak Al-Duwailah in a state security case and charges of slandering Egypt. The court also decided abstaining from punishing Nasser Al-Duwailah and Dr Tareq Suwaidan over the same charges. Meanwhile, lawyer Mutlaq Al-Jed'ee recently filed a case against journalist Bader Al-Musa'eed, accusing him of slander.

Camping sites

Kuwait Municipality's Acting Director Ahmad Al-Manfouhi said that four new camping locations would be open for camping after coordinating with relevant authorities to make sure they were not close to any oil, military or power facilities. Notably, the municipality had stressed that camping was open for both citizens and expats according to regulations.

Municipal Council

The Municipal Council once more reduced the number of its committees' members from nine to seven in order to achieve the quorum needed for each committee to convene, especially in view of the withdrawal of some members.
