KUWAIT: President of Arab and Kuwait Shooting Federations Eng Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi congratulated HH the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Kuwait people for the sports achievements Kuwait shooting continues to make, as Kuwait's skeet shooter Mansour Al-Rashidi won the gold medal of the World Cup Championship being held in Al-Ein, and this qualified him for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics being the second Kuwaiti to qualify after shooter Al-Faihan who qualified in Korea. Kuwait is the first Arab country that gets two qualifications in Olympic shooting for 2020.

Al-Otaibi said this achievement is achieved with the fatherly support of by our beloved Amir, and HH the Crown Prince and government, also the result of the efforts of board members and workers of Kuwait Shooting Sports Club.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Shooting Sport Club will organize the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah annual tournament, with the generous support and patronage of the late sheikh's family. The tournament will start on Thursday in the skeet, trap, 10m air pistol and rifle, 25m pistol, 50m rifle in addition to archery. The tournament will be concluded Saturday.

KSSC Secretary General Obaid Al-Osaimi said the season was full of events and saw strong competitions between club shooters and the military sports association shooters. He said the tournament of the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah is one of the most important tournaments that most shooters are keen to participate in, as all categories participate in it and is considered a very good opportunity for junior shooters to be with national teams to gain experience.

Al-Osaimi said the club commemorates those who served the country and had clear influence on the sport of shooting, adding that the late sheikh was one of the first pioneers of the sport of shooting.

He lauded the major support Kuwait shooters are receiving from the honorary president of KSSC Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, who is keen along with the late sheikh's family on organizing this annual tournament to encourage and motivate shooters, particularly the juniors, so that they can develop their skills and be able to represent Kuwait within the national teams.

Al-Osaimi concluded by saying, competition this year will be tough as teams from Bahrain and UAE will participate along with club and National Guard shooters, adding that this tournament will mark the end of the local season.
