Moroccan actor and director Jillali Ferhati received the Golden Star of the Marrakech International Film Festival. A tribute to the director of "The Beach of Lost Children", " From the Dawn" or "Ultimate Revolt" on the evening of December 5th. After Robert De Niro and Agnès Varda, it is the turn of Moroccan filmmaker Jillali Ferhati to receive his Golden Star in an evening celebrating Moroccan cinema.

A reward given by Hammadi Guerroum, film critic and regular to the Festival, given the long career of Jillali Ferhati which is spread over the span of thirty years and is marked by award, both in Morocco and the United States. Guerroum wished to salute " the friend, the man and the artist in this great moment of recognition ". As a reminder, Jillali Ferhati is " The Beach of lost children " (1991), " Fortune Horses " (1995), " Braids " (2000), " Memory in detention " (2004), " From the Dawn" (2010), " Pillow secrets " (2013) and " Ultime Revolt " (2018), his latest film that was screened at the end of this tribute ceremony.

Welcomed at the Palais des Congrès with great emotion and pride, the artist expressed his high consideration to King Mohammed VI for the unconditional support for national cinema. Jilali Ferhati also thanked the audience for the "love and support you give me," he said.
