kuwait-metroKUWAIT: A letter recently sent by the Partnership Technical Bureau (PTB) to an unspecified state department showed that the Kuwait metro project is still under consideration, and that its execution is supposed to go through five phases to build 160 km. The project is expected to be entirely finished in 23 years starting from the date of commencing construction.

The PTB did not give the exact cost of the project but it implied that according to the feasibility study, the cost of the first phase would be KD 5 billion, to be fully provided by the company executing the project. The PTB also explained that the project’s feasibility study was prepared by international consultants specialized in means of public transportation that had been approved by the state’s relevant bodies.

The PTB added that the project was divided into five phases to facilitate its execution and operation as well as to deal with all contingencies such as resolving any traffic congestions resulting from the construction process. Further, the authority stressed that once completed, each phase would be assessed by the project consultants. — Al-Qabas
