MEW eyes increase in revenues to KD 400m

KUWAIT: The interior ministry on Monday continued its awareness campaign to draw the attention of motorists to tougher penalties in the new traffic law which will become effective on April 22. The ministry said on its account on X that the penalty for breaking the red traffic light is between one and three years in jail and a fine between KD 600 and KD 1,000 if the case is referred to the court. But violators will be fined KD 150 if the dangerous offense is settled at the traffic department before sending the case to court. The issue is explained in six languages in addition to Arabic.
