KUWAIT: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Subaih gave orders yesterday to dissolve Al-Rabiya Cooperative Society's board of directors. The minister appointed Faisal Khalaf Al-Mutairi as interim director for a one year's period until a new board is elected.

Citizenship withdrawal

The court of cassation yesterday accepted the challenge filed by media figure Ahmad Al-Jabr Al-Shemmari against a government decision to withdraw his citizenship.

Bribery claims

Former MP Dr Abdulkareem Al-Kandari said that he plans to file a complaint with the Public Anticorruption Authority against MP Mohammad Tana Al-Enezi over some statements he made during a recently televised interview. "I will report what Enezi said about being offered a bribery and that others have accepted it," he explained.

Engineers syndicate

Following six years of litigation, the court of cassation yesterday announced that the procedures followed on founding and proclaiming Kuwait Engineers Syndicate were legal. In this regard, secretary of the syndicate's council Ayed Abdul Rahman Al-Fadhli said the ruling supported the syndicate's legitimacy, and showed that the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has no jurisdiction over the syndicate's actions and decisions.

Allowance

A court yesterday ordered granting Kuwaiti employees working for Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC) a transportation allowance equal to their wages paid since June 2013.

'Fifth column'

The criminal court decided to adjourn a case filed by a number of citizens against Al-Shahed newspaper's Editor-in-Chief Sheikh Sabah Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah for mentioning their names in a report he wrote describing them as 'fifth column' members. The court is set to make its ruling in the next session.
