KUWAIT: Officials are seen during the interior ministry meeting at the Chamber of Commerce yesterday. - KUNA

KUWAIT: The interior ministry announced yesterday the activation of articles 2 and 5 of the traffic law no. 41 approving settlements at police stations for accidents of limited damage. Motorists who cause a minor accident will pay KD 20 at the police station and acknowledge their responsibility, thus relieving personnel and civilians involved of a lot of time and effort. The interior ministry's relation and security information department said this was decided at a meeting of the ministry's investigations department and the Kuwait Insurance Association held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Deputy General Manager of the Investigations Department Jamal Al-Reesh said the implementation of the plan will begin from the Capital governorate. He said these items already exist in the law and the investigations department merely decided to activate them. He said receipt books will be distributed to police stations and will be given to those who pay the KD 20 charge. He said this will reduce the documentary cycle from 18 months to a few hours.
