KUWAIT: Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said that the country is facing a fierce war by drug traffickers. “We will not allow drugs traffickers to harm our children and youth,” he said while supervising the seizure of 120 kg hashish, 36,000 captagon pills, one kg of shabu, and 250 gm of heroin. The minister affirmed that the rule of law applies to everybody, according to a statement from the Ministry of Interior’s general department of security relations and media.

He appreciated the relentless efforts of the security personnel at all sectors in confronting drug smugglers and repelling all smuggling methods and attempts, according to the statement. He called on the anti-narcotics personnel to be vigilant, and exert all energies to pursue and seize those who smuggle, promote and manufacture these toxins, it noted. The minister was accompanied by some senior officials at the ministry, including acting assistant undersecretary for criminal security affairs Sheikh Mubarak Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah.

In another development, custom officials at the airport have detained an Asian man with 280 pieces of hashish after he arrived at the airport. “The Asian came from New Delhi and after inspections, the officers found 280 pieces of Hashish hidden in his bag. The suspect has been sent to the concerned departments for further procedures,” sources revealed to Kuwait Times.
