KUWAIT: Kuwait was affected by a sandstorm yesterday after authorities advised the pubic to be cautious when using highways because of the low visibility caused by weather instability due to high winds. People were urged in a Ministry of Interior statement to call the emergency hotline (112) for any kind of assistance needed.

Moreover, a press statement by Kuwait’s Fire Department asked boat owners not to go to sea during the unstable weather, urging them to follow the weather forecast through available channels. Winds at speed of more than 60 km/h were forecasted yesterday, accompanied with low vertical visibility to less than 1,000 meters in some areas.

High winds and sandstorms are common unstable weather features in the Sarayat Season which officially started yesterday and lasts until the middle of May. It is also characterized by sudden weather changes and thunderstorms.
