MP Riyadh Al-Adasani

KUWAIT:   MP Riyadh Al-Adasani yesterday warned that he will hold the prime minister to account if the government raises charges on public services. The opposition lawmaker said that he has become a target of deliberate attacks by certain quarters and MPs because he has been exposing corrupt transactions and elements. Adasani said that a majority of lawmakers and ministers are very good, but there are some who are hired by certain quarters and work for their interests. The lawmaker praised a draft law governing conflict of interests as a good means to fight corruption in the country.

The head of the Assembly's legal and legislative committee MP Al-Humaidi Al-Subaei said a meeting of the committee reached a consensus over the conflict of interest legislation, but a lack of quorum prevented a vote on the law. He however expected the committee vote to take place before the Assembly session on March 5 and 6.
