Vladimir Zheltov

Russia’s Ambassador

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait, the government and the people of friendly Kuwait on the occasion of the 63rd Anniversary of the National Day and the 33rd Anniversary of the Liberation Day. Our bilateral relations started back in 1963 shortly after Kuwait had gained its independence. Against the then geopolitical realities, your country became the first Gulf state to establish diplomatic ties with the USSR. During the tragic events in 1990-1991 our country stood by Kuwait’s side. Nowadays our relations continue to develop in various fields. Russia and Kuwait have common interests and desire to further promote the political dialogue, economic and humanitarian cooperation. More and more Kuwaitis visit Russia where they enjoy a warm welcome even during cold winters. We view “Hala February” annual celebrations as an amazing tradition of the Kuwaiti people which demonstrates love for their country, a gem of the Arabian Gulf. And it gives me pleasure to congratulate all Kuwaitis on the occasion of the National and Liberation Days with our best wishes for continued progress and prosperity.
