KUWAIT: A 43-year-old citizen working for Kuwait Municipality was recently arrested for taking bribes. Security sources said the case came to light when an Egyptian representative of a restaurant company applied to renew the license of one of the restaurant’s branches in Ardhiya.

The suspect - a food inspector - immediately told him that the application could not be approved because there were a number of violations, which was rejected by the representative.

To his astonishment, the inspector asked him for KD 2,000 to ‘forget’ about the so-called violations, which made the representative report the matter. The suspect was arrested red-handed while receiving marked bribe money.
