KUWAIT: Kuwait Municipality Director Ahmad Al- Manfouhi announced that he has referred 15 bank guarantee forgery cases to the public prosecution. Responding to an inquiry filed by Municipal Council member Fahad Al-Sane about fake bank guarantees, Manfouhi explained that the standard procedures followed in such cases is to submit a report made by a specialized team to the municipality’s director, who refers it to the legal affairs department for investigation.

The municipality’s director would then refer the investigations’ results to the public funds’ prosecution department to conduct further investigations, he added. “Most recent investigations resulted in referring 15 citations to public prosecution and three of them are being currently investigated,” he explained.

Further, Manfouhi added that new strict measures were in effect now to prevent any further forgery cases by verifying the letters issued by the financial affairs’ department, naming specific employees and substitutes to be responsible for those documents and keeping those bank guarantee letters in safe secured places, making sure they are not released until the release was officially approved. — Al-Qabas
