Municipality refers ‘turkeys case’ to Public Prosecution

KUWAIT: Upon recommendations by the Kuwait Municipality’s Legal Department, Director Ahmed Al-Manfouhi has referred the probe results of ‘turkey shipment’ to the Municipality Minister pending the referral to the Public Prosecution.

Al- Manfouhi also recommended taking legal measures against the company for selling part of the shipments in the local markets before getting Municipality’s approval.

The shipment arrived at Shuwaikh port from US at the same time importation of poultry from US was suspended because of the spread of bird flu.

The official in charge refused to receive the shipments because but his superior officer approved the shipment on the condition that the it would be withheld until they are properly certified. Moreover, investigators found out that the shipment had been originally sent to Lebanon and but ended up in Kuwait. — Al-Qabas
