KUWAIT: An Amiri decree No 31/2016 was recently issued to add the Interior Ministry Undersecretary and the National Guard Undersecretary to the Supreme Defense Council as new members for a three-year tenure.

Iraq deal

Kuwait has approved a commercial cooperation agreement with Iraq, which was signed in Baghdad on Dec 28, 2014 including nine articles. The agreement is part of a desire by both sides to cement commercial relations and fraternity based on both countries' joint and exchanged interests.

Regulating commercial ads

The Information Ministry officially endorsed a new charter on regulating commercial ads on various Kuwaiti TV channels and radio stations. The charter also regulates sponsorship rates according to show times - regular, excellent or primetime. It also regulates sponsoring news bulletins, studio backdrops, fixed logos and ticker ads.

Judicial police powers

The manpower authority authorized 60 male and female employees to use judicial police powers, a decision which was endorsed by Minister of Social Work and Labor and Minister of State for Planning and Development Hind Al-Subaih. The 60 employees were sworn in to be responsible for monitoring the execution of labor laws and various related executive decisions.

License canceled

In accordance to clause number one of article 14 of law number 3/2006, the Information Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Journalism, Printing and Publications Khaled Fuhaid Al-Rasheedi canceled the license of Al-Daleel weekly because its publication had stopped for over six months without any acceptable cause.

Footbridges

Municipal council member Hassan Kamal yesterday suggested building two footbridges linking the coastal road with Rumaithiya and Salwa. Kamal based his proposal to the growing activities on that leg of the coastal road and the lack of enough parking spaces, which makes people park on the other side of the road and cross the street on foot. In another development, another Municipal council member Yousef Al-Ghareeb expressed amazement at the continuity of traffic jams despite the many projects completed and in progress to develop road grids, flyovers, bridges and intersections. "This problem is becoming chronic in Kuwait with the growing number of vehicles," he underlined.

Football case

A local court yesterday referred a case field by the government against Kuwait Football Association to its sports section. Notably, FIFA has suspended all sports activities in Kuwait over allegations of political interference in sports.

Housing units

The Housing Authority is scheduled to draw the names of citizens today to receive housing units in South Mutlaa's N6 area, which includes 351 400-sq-m units.
