KUWAIT: Kuwait Times has appointed the following staff members to new positions:

Islam Sharaa

Islam Al-Sharaa - IT Director

Islam Mohammad Al-Sharaa has been working at Kuwait Times since 1983. After completing an MCSE course, he joined the editorial department in 1992, going on to head the information technology department at the paper. Sharaa has covered many events inside and outside Kuwait and met several senior IT specialists during his assignments.

Shakir Reshamwala

Shakir Reshamwala - Deputy Managing Editor

Shakir Reshamwala has more than 20 years of experience in the field of journalism. After earning a bachelor's degree in commerce, he worked for a travel magazine before joining Kuwait Times in 2003. He is the front page editor and the paper's senior copyeditor. Reshamwala is a 2013 World Press Institute and 2017 East-West Center Senior Journalists Seminar fellow. He is also a competitive Scrabble player and has represented Kuwait at many world championships in North America, Europe, Australia, Asia and the Middle East. A budding artist, Reshamwala recently painted a mural on a wall of Kuwait Times' disused printing press.

Faten Omar

Faten Omar - Deputy Managing Editor

Faten Omar has been working for Kuwait Times as a local reporter since 2014. She earned her BA in Journalism and Media from Petra University in 2009, and an MA in Media from Middle East University in 2012. Since 2012, Omar has been working as a journalist and freelancer for local, regional and international news agencies. She has reported for Chinese news agency Xinhua, Lebanon's Raseef22, Rai Al-Youm in the UK and Jordanian-based daily newspaper Al-Ghad, as well as a translator for the New York Times. In Kuwait, Omar worked as a reporter at the daily Arabic newspaper Al-Kuwaityah and as managing editor of the local section at Al-Mustaqbal newspaper.

Majd Othman

Majd Othman - Head of Business section

Majd Othman has a master's degree in the field of journalism and media from Petra University. Before joining Kuwait Times, she worked as a business reporter at Al-Qabas newspaper, business news correspondent for CNBC Arabia - Kuwait office and other local journalism and media institutions, not to mention an internship with Al Jazeera's Amman office.
