ShareKUWAIT: Responding to Health Minister Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah's instructions, MoH assistant undersecretary for food and medicine control affairs Dr Abdullah Al-Bader announced new regulations for selling medicine in private pharmacies. The new regulations mandate doctors writing prescriptions to be bought from private pharmacies to note down all necessary information about the medicine, patients' full names and civil ID number or passport number of visitors.
No fisherman strike
Chairman of Kuwait Fishermen Union Thaher Al-Suwayyan strongly denied fishermen had gone on strike, noting that fishermen had never gone on strike since the union was established. Suwayyan called for more support for fishermen, especially by providing enough fuel and resuming shrimping in national waters as promised on Sept 1, which has not happened so far.
Illegal goods
MSAL's acting assistant undersecretary for cooperative societies' affairs Hamad Al-Enezi said the ministry referred those responsible for illegal release of goods from Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Qurain co-op warehouses to court, adding that a special committee had been formed to investigate the incident before referring it to the prosecution.
Low rate of medical errors
Health Minister Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah stressed medical errors in Kuwait are much less than those in most neighboring or other countries. Speaking on the sidelines of celebrating World Patient Safety Day, Sheikh Basel stressed that according to WHO reports, five fatalities happen per minute in North America and Europe, and explained the low rate of medical errors in Kuwait compared to international rates to the presence of a full department responsible for quality and accreditation. Sheikh Basel added a bill on medical responsibility was being studied at the fatwa and legislation department pending referring it to parliament.
