No double punishment for reckless drivers

KUWAIT: Traffic police can either withdraw an offending driver's license or impound their car, upon direct instructions from the Interior Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Jamal Hatem Al-Sayegh. This came following several complains that policemen were confiscating licenses and impounding vehicles at the same time for drivers who commit 'grave traffic violations.' The new instructions have already been circulated to various traffic departments and patrols to take immediate effect, the ministry's relations and security media department said in a statement yesterday.
