ShareKUWAIT: Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Services Khaled Al-Roudhan briefed the Cabinet on Sunday about a report by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), regarding security inspection carried out recently by the Universal Security Audit Program Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA) on the State of Kuwait, which found 'no serious security loopholes' that could affect aviation security. During its weekly meeting chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Cabinet expressed faith that lawmakers would reaffirm confidence in Minister of Finance Dr Nayef Al-Hajraf, after a no-confidence motion was filed against him at the end of an interpellation by MP Mohammad Hayef Al-Mutairi.
Meanwhile, First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah briefed the Cabinet about a meeting of the international coalition fighting the so-called Islamic State (IS), during which he highlighted Kuwait's counter-terrorism efforts. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah also talked about a recent visit by a delegation of the UN Security Council, co-chaired by Kuwait and the US, to discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Terrorist attacks
The Cabinet meanwhile strongly condemned the continued terrorist attacks by the Houthi militia on the populated areas as well as the International Airport of Abha, Saudi Arabia, last Sunday, which resulted in a number of injuries. The Cabinet praised the achievements of the Saudi security forces in confronting and deterring the persistent Houthi aggression, affirming the solidarity of Kuwait with the kingdom, supporting all measures taken to protect its security and stability. It also called on the global community to take a strong stance against such actions threatening innocent civilians, stressing that the Houthis should halt all kinds of assaults on Saudi Arabia. The Cabinet deplored the two terrorist blasts on a police patrol and a base of the National Guard in the Tunisian capital, expressing sincere condolences to the President of Tunisia, Government and people and the families of the victims.
The Cabinet expressed sorrow over the terror attack hitting El-Arish town, Egypt, which led to the death of seven police officers and the injury of others. The Cabinet condemned the recent storming of Bahraini embassy in Baghdad by a number of protesters, stressing confidence in the ability of the Iraqi government to take all that would ensure the security and safety of diplomatic missions. The Cabinet congratulated Ould Cheikh Mohammad Al-Ghazouani on wining the presidential elections in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, wishing the President all the best and the Mauritanian people further development and prosperity. - KUNA
