KUWAIT: The Secretary-General of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), Ali Bin Sabt, stated that the Organization's Council of Ministers held its 109th meeting in Kuwait on Monday, headed by Bassam Tuama, the Syrian Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources.

"The meeting discussed a set of issues related to the work of the organization, including the estimated budget for the year 2023, and to develop the progress made in terms of implementing the plan to activate and develop the organization's activity approved by the organization's cabinet.

Especially in the field of activating the relationship between the General Secretariat of the organization and the Arab countries, as well as activating the role of the organization in training, coordinating the positions of member states and the rest of the countries regarding obligations in climate change negotiations, and the field of developing the data bank and activating its role," Bin Sabt said.

"The meeting also reviewed the report prepared on the preparations for the Twelfth Arab Energy Conference to be held in Qatar during the last quarter of 2023, and the events organized by or participated in by the General Secretariat during the year 2022. Moreover, the meeting also discussed assigning the executive office of the organization, in coordination with Saudi Arabia, to activate the Green Middle East initiative and to adopt the application of the concept of the circular carbon economy," he added.

"The council had also reviewed the economic and technical studies carried out by the General Secretariat, in addition to the reports prepared by the General Secretariat of OAPEC, including the quarterly report on the global petroleum situation, the quarterly report on "developments in liquefied natural gas and hydrogen" among others," he added.

The Secretary-General stated that the 109th meeting of the OAPEC Council of Ministers was preceded by the 164th meeting of the Executive Office, which was held on Sunday, chaired by Khaled Al-Ulaij, which is a meeting dedicated to preparing today's meeting.

The Secretary-General concluded his statement by expressing his sincere thanks for the continuous support and unlimited support that the OAPEC General Secretariat receives from its member states, which enabled it to continue to perform its work as required, wishing further progress and prosperity for the petroleum industry for member states in light of the exceptional circumstances that the global energy markets are going through. - KUNA
