KUWAIT: Criminal detectives arrested a policeman for attempting to sell equipment, flashlights and sirens used by police patrols. The department said the suspect was trying to sell the equipment through social media in violation of the law, because the equipment is exclusively used by police and can only be used by official permission.

'Naked runner' caught

Criminal detectives arrested a man who appeared in a clip on social media running naked in the street. The man, Egyptian, is suffering from mental problems. Detectives referred to surveillance videos of some nearby facilities, and he was identified by a man who covered him. He was sent to concerned authorities.

Smuggling foiled

Kuwait customs officers arrested an Arab man for attempting to smuggle 15,000 Tramadol tablets wrapped around his legs. The arrest was supervised by airport customs supervisor Essa bin Essa. The suspect and pills were sent to concerned authorities.

Municipality inspections

Kuwait Municipality's public relations department said the violations removal department of the Capital branch carried out inspections on shops, supermarkets, trespassing on state property, real estate in violation of construction rules and abandoned cars during the first seven months of the current year, and the total amount of fines reached KD 31,755. He said 493 warnings were issued to violating buildings, while 41 citations were issued to buildings in violation of the construction code.

Safety requirements

The public relations and information department at Kuwait Fire Services Directorate (KFSD) said the prevention sector began handing penalties to facilities that commit grave violations in order to protect lives and property. It said instructions by the director general of KFSD stressed that seven facilities must be administratively closed in Ahmadi for their violations. Inspection teams had informed them earlier and given them warnings, but they did not respond.
