DUBAI: A Kuwaiti official yesterday underlined the country's exemplary efforts to promote tolerance and fight extremism. Addressing a meeting held in the GCC Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai as part of the Tolerance and Inclusivity Week, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Development and International Cooperation Meshari Al-Nibari said Kuwait is committed to promoting the principle of moderation and Islamic tolerance.

Kuwait has played host to a set of conferences and workshops, attended by international experts, on fighting terrorist and extremist notions and advocating peaceful coexistence and social togetherness, the official stressed. In this context, he listed pieces of legislation adopted by the State of Kuwait, including one for setting up a national committee on fighting money laundering and financing terrorism, underlining the role of state bodies and media in combatting terrorism in all forms and manifestations.

The official, further, spoke highly of the efforts exerted by the Higher Committee for Promoting Moderation for developing initiatives and strategies purposed to decry extremism and educate young people about the values of Islam. - KUNA
