The launch was announced yesterday during a press conference held at its premises. Ooredoo is the first company to launch this service in Kuwait market. It will be available in all its branches and online from Dec 7, 2018.

Ooredoo CEO Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Thani said during the press conference that launching this service in Kuwait is another new achievement this year. "This launch is part of our digital transformation strategy to provide innovative products and services for our clients to enrich their experience. We aim to support the vision of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah (New Kuwait 2035) through digital transformation and launching the latest products in IT and telecommunication," he said.

Mijbil Al-Ayoub, Senior Director Corporate Communications, noted that Ooredoo is keen to always be the first to announce launching new products. "Ooredoo was the first telecommunication company to launch the eSIM in the Kuwaiti market on September 24. Today we announce the commercial launch of the eSIM in the local market for all our clients. And we aim to keep their trust in our company and to always be leaders in the world of technology and telecommunication," Ayoub added.

Tapan Tripathi, Chief Marketing Officer, said Ooredoo clients can activate the eSIM without using the old SIM. "The client can activate the service on his watch form his number, and will be able to make and receive calls no matter if he is near or far from his mobile phone. This service is available on all models from iPhone 6 to the latest models (iOS.12.1.1). Both postpaid and prepaid clients can benefit from this service," he explained.

The eSIM is very useful when travelling. "It's available for old and new clients of Ooredoo, and it will only charge for the calls or services as part of the monthly package of the mobile phone. During roaming, the client can use all the features through connecting by Bluetooth, apart from making and receiving calls without any additional charges. A manual of the watch will be provided for our clients for easy operation and connecting," added Tripathi.

The new Apple Watch series 4 will be available in the market from Friday. "This service will be free for Ooredoo customers for the first six months, and after June 6, 2019, they will pay KD 3 monthly, while it will be deducted from the balance of prepaid customers," he said. "If the customer wants to cancel the service, he can do it easily through the app on his mobile without any conditions. In case of theft or losing the watch, the client can disconnect the connection of his watch with his mobile and the eSIM will be automatically canceled," Tripathi said.

The eSIM can operate up to five Apple Watches at once for postpaid clients, while prepaid customers can only use their eSIM for one Apple Watch. This watch can be used without the mobile phone, so it's suitable for swimming or training at the gym. It is designed with an LTPO OLED screen and Force Touch. Its battery can last up to 18 hours and is available in different colors.
