KUWAIT: Ooredoo, Kuwait’s fastest network, is proudly sponsoring the Kuwait National Flag Ball Team during the Asia Cup, which kicks off today in the Philippines. Kuwait will be playing against the teams of Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines. It is the first Arab team to participate in such an international competition in this sport.

In a statement about this event, Ooredoo Kuwait’s Corporate Communications Senior Director Mijbil Alayoub reiterated Ooredoo’s commitment to supporting youth, as it is one of the most important segments in society. He added that the company is proud of endorsing athletes who play in international competitions, and wished all the participants the best of luck in the competition. The team’s manager Khaled Al-Sayyar on his part thanked Ooredoo for its support and endorsement, especially for believing in a relatively new sport that is starting to gain popularity in the country.

Flag Football is a form of American football that started to get significant interest from youth in Kuwait recently. Empowering youth is among Ooredoo’s top priorities through its CSR strategy. The company has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs, to support youth projects and initiatives, making it the first telecom provider in Kuwait to sign such a high-level agreement. Ooredoo is continuously working with the Ministry to enrich youth experience in a variety of fields, with a focus on volunteerism.
