KUWAIT: Dean of admittance and registration at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) Dr Rabah Al-Najada said the higher admittance committee approved the admittance policy for 2019-2020 by designating 18,000 seats for the new academic year in various specialties in colleges, institutes and training centers. She said the higher acceptance committee agreed to announce the date of receiving applications online to study at PAAET - June 12.

Najada said the minimum GPA for high school graduates for admittance was reduced from 80 percent to 75 percent for those desiring to join the commercial studies college, as it used to be previously, to give better opportunity for previous secondary school certificate holders who were not accepted in past years. She said the deanship will open the applications for English secondary graduates for two days after their results are announced.

Health Ministry employees

Health Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs Marzouq Al-Rashidi said the total number of workers at the health ministry is 63,752 employees in various sectors medical, technical, nursing and administrative sectors based on the latest statistics. He said there are 61,814 employees in general jobs, and second contract, and 1,938 employees who are on the rewards item.

Rashidi said the number of doctors at the ministry is 11,009, including 10,818 in general jobs and 191 on the reward system. He said the number of pharmacists in the health ministry is 1,704 including 1,590 in general jobs and second contract and 114 on the reward system. The number of nurses at the ministry is 23,172 including 22,377 in general jobs and second contract and 795 on the reward system. He said the number of technicians at the ministry is 10,515, 10,150 of whom are in public jobs and second contract, and 365 in the reward system. He said the number of administrative employees at the ministry is 17,352, 16,879 in general jobs and second contract, and 473 employees on the reward system.

Farmers’ products

Head of the cooperatives union Khalid Al-Hudaiban said the union is ready to follow and resolve issues of farmers and coordinate with concerned authorities to resolve this problem. He said a meeting was held with co-ops and farmers’ representatives to discuss their demands. He said that among the suggestions to resolve this problem is to widen areas designated for farmers in co-ops to display their products and sell them. He said national products must have priority at co-ops and markets due to their true value and quality.
