ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mehmood Qureshi yesterday praised the level of bilateral ties with the State of Kuwait. This came in a statement prior to his departure to Kuwait for a two-day official visit to discuss issues of mutual interests. Qureshi said, "Pakistan enjoyed deep and historic relations with the State of Kuwait and I wish to make these ties cemented and stronger. I will have a one-on-one meeting with my Kuwaiti counterpart followed by delegation level talks where we will discuss ways to expand ties between the two countries."

The Foreign Minister said that he is scheduled to meet Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah during his visit. "I hope that this visit in the holy month of Ramadan will help further cementing ties between Pakistan and the State of Kuwait," Qureshi added. In September last year, Pakistani Foreign Minister met Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly's 37th session. Both leaders discussed issues of common concern as well as regional and international developments. - KUNA
