Palestinian embroidery using silk threads has been one of the most important aspects of Palestinian identity through the ages. Palestinian women in the past, both young and old, used to work for hours to embroider their dresses.

Embroidery in the old days began with geometric shapes, then developed to images from the surroundings, as dresses are characterized with nature's colors of green and red. Some symbols of nature are also used, such as cypress trees surrounded by orange trees, flowers, jasmine and the famous olive tree. These elements were and are still present in Palestinian embroidery works.
