The Palestinian Heritage Center, in cooperation with the Palestinian Embassy in Kuwait, inaugurated the 54th Palestinian heritage exhibition under the theme “A heritage spanning generations”. The exhibition runs from March 15 to 18 at Al-Sadu House from 10 am to 8 pm.
Palestinian embroidery using silk threads has been one of the most important aspects of Palestinian identity through the ages. Palestinian women in the past, both young and old, used to work for hours to embroider their dresses.
Embroidery in the old days began with geometric shapes, then developed to images from the surroundings, as dresses are characterized with nature’s colors of green and red. Some symbols of nature are also used, such as cypress trees surrounded by orange trees, flowers, jasmine and the famous olive tree. These elements were and are still present in Palestinian embroidery works.
