KUWAIT: The parliamentary legal and legislative committee has recommended approval of bills trimming state subsidies OF power, water, fuel for state department and public sector employees, amending laws on small and medium enterprises and citizens of special needs. The committee rapporteur, MP Ahmad Al-Qudaibi, said in a statement following a meeting today that its members discussed a number of draft laws and issued recommendations approving the bills.

One of them stipulates amendment Law 98/2013 on the fund for medium and small enterprise, referring it to the financial committee, another calls for slashing the subsidies for electricity, water and fuel for government departments and civil servants. The commission blessed a bill on amending the law for the handicapped and referred it to the commission that handless issues concerning citizens of special needs.

Women's housing

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Woman and Family Affairs Committee discussed the issues of women's housing and females married to non-Kuwaiti men. The committee's rapporteur MP Mohammad Tana Al-Enezi said in a press release after the meeting that the committee considered the necessity of giving women full housing rights. He demanded for a bigger woman presence in upcoming housing projects and replacing 100-meter apartments given to women at present with 400-meter ones.

Enezi stressed that the committee is working on laws aiming to ensure full rights to women. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Housing Affairs Yasser Abul, General Manager of Public Authority for Housing Welfare, General Manager of Kuwait Credit Bank, and several child and woman activists. - KUNA
