ROME: Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani has stressed the importance of cooperating with Kuwait in various fields. Partnership and cooperation with Kuwait are significant at various levels namely in the realm of energy security and combating terrorism, said Tajani in response to a question by KUNA's correspondent during his first news conference at the foreign ministry's headquarters in Rome since taking office, Tajani, during the press conference, held late on Monday, answered KUNA in regards of the Italian-Kuwaiti cooperation and Italy's stand and bonds with other Arab countries.

Tajani said that he had held talks with Kuwaiti officials and GCC foreign ministers on a host of issues including energy and anti-terrorism efforts, stressing that the GCC plays a major role in fighting terrorism. The deputy premier and foreign minister also added that during the Mediterranean Dialogues Forum (Rome MED), held early this month in Italy, he had met with Kuwait's Petroleum Corporation Chief Executive Officer Shaikh Nawaf Al-Sabah to discuss energy issues.

Asked whether Italy will participate in Turkiye's energy project, turning into "Europe's energy axis"-as the Turks say-he indicated that Rome has an identical enterprise. Tajani also noted that, during the forum, he had held a series of discussions on various issues with officials from several Arab and African countries including Libya, Iran, Lebanon and the Sahel Region. - KUNA
