KUWAIT: Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al- Humoud Al-Sabah yesterday stressed on Public Authority for Youth and Sports’ (PAYS) keenness on overcoming obstacles facing the Kuwaiti athletes. This came in a press release issued by PAYS following the 10th meeting of its board of directors, attended by PAYS Director General Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The meeting comes in implementation of the political leadership’s instructions to improve the sports domain according to the Cabinet’s recommendations. PAYS Board of Directors approved a number of agreements with Malta, South Africa, Gambia, Kyrgyzstan and Hungary for exchanging sports expertise. It also blessed the budget for the year 2017-2018.

Moreover, the PAYS board decided to allow citizens of all ages to be involved in sports and proclaim a number of clubs specialized in horse-riding, water games and golf. It praised achievements of the Kuwait Shooting Union and Kuwaiti Disabled Club in Rio De Janeiro Olympics, presented by players Fuhaid Al-Dhehani, Abdullah Al-Rashidi and Ahmad Al-Mutairi.

PAYS decided to offer financial and moral rewards to players who won Olympic and Paralympic medals, along with offering monthly financial allotments. It endorsed the efforts exerted by the Football Association for organizing the latest Super Cup soccer match, expressed appreciation to the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa for the productive cooperation between PAYS and the Ministry by offering extra classes for sports activities.
