KUWAIT:
Preparations are proceeding for the 16th edition of the Arab Media Forum
scheduled on April 20-22, the forum's Secretary General Madhi Al-Khamis said in
a statement on yesterday. Patronized by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh
Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the forthcoming session will group foreign,
information ministers, owners of Arab media organizations, senior officials,
eminent journalists, writers, broadcasters, celebrities, media professors and
students from Arab universities.

Registration for
participation in the planned event has already begun, says Khamis, adding that
there has been also coordination with relevant local and external authorities
to draft the agenda. The main sessions, along with sideline workshops and
seminars will tackle a host of crucial issues for sake of re-affirming the
major role played by the media for the making of the public opinion,
censorship, accountability and dissemination of the truth to the masses
objectively, he said.

Khamis expressed
deep gratitude to the Kuwaiti State and Government, namely His Highness the
Prime Minister, for special concern and care for the activities, organized by
the forum management. He also thanked Minister of Information and Minister of
State for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri for his ongoing backing for the forum
activities. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information is a strategic partner for the
forum due to its efforts at the local and Arab levels, he continues. An exhibition
for modern information and communication outlets and organizations will be held
