KUWAIT: President of Kuwait Handicapped Sports Club Shafi Al-Hajiri appreciated the generous support of the Public Authority for Sports (PAS), to allow the club to organize several local tournaments in various individual and team games. This was done in order to prepare the athletes for foreign tournaments.
Al-Hajiri said the support the club enjoys from PAS officials headed by Director General Sheikh Ahmad Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Deputy Director General for Sports Dr Humoud Fulaiteh is among the reason behind the outstanding performance of the club as many athletes qualified for the Paralympics to be held in Brazil later this year.
Al-Hajiri said the first of the local tournaments will be held on Saturday for swimming, table tennis and wheelchair basketball, with more than 70 players of both genders participating. He said the organizing committee is exerting tremendous efforts to prepare for the tournament and is allowing athletes and officials all means to achieve success. Al-Hairi said the club was keen to hold the tournaments to coincide with Kuwait’s celebration of its national days.
