KUWAIT: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah casts his vote during the speaker’s election yesterday. — Photo by Yasser Al-ZayyatKUWAIT: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has formed the 34th government of the State of Kuwait since 1962 and the sixth since he has occupied the premiership post in December 2011. The following are profiles of the newly-formed cabinet including the premier.
* Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak, born in 1942, has occupied a number of positions since 1968, serving as supervisor of administrative and financial affairs at the Amiri Diwan, director of a State department and assistant undersecretary for financial and administrative affairs.
On March 19, 1979, he was appointed Hawally Governor. Later, he was named Al-Ahmadi Governor, before serving as minister of social affairs and labor and minister of information as well as advisor at His Highness the Amir Bureau.
On February 9, 2006, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak was named first deputy premier, minister of interior and defense. He retained the same posts in two cabinets, formed on July 11, 2006, and March 25, 2007.
Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak, in a cabinet reshuffle on October 28, 2007, became the first deputy premier and minister of defense. He served in the same positions in the subsequent governments formed in May 2008, January 2009, May 2009 and May 2011. In November 2011, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak was selected to serve as premier. He was re-appointed to the premiership post in February 2012, July 2012, December 2012, July 2013 and January 2014.
* Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the First Deputy Prime
Minister and Foreign Minister, born in 1953. He joined the foreign ministry in 1978 as a diplomatic attache, serving in the Arab affairs department (1978-1983) and with the permanent Kuwaiti mission at the UN (1983-1989). He worked as the deputy director of the Arab homeland department at the foreign ministry (1989-1992), in addition to several other senior posts till assuming the foreign minister's post in 2011. He retained the position in the years later.
* Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, the deputy premier and interior minister, was named chief of staff on March 4, 2012, deputy premier and minister of defense in July 2013 and remained in the same service as of January 2014.
* Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the deputy premier and minister of defense, was named Hawally Governor in 1991, minister of interior in 1996, as well as in the cabinets of 1998, 1999 and 2001. He was re-named for the same service in 2012 and 2014.
* Anas Al-Saleh, the deputy premier and finance minister, born in 1972, had served in key positions in several private business companies before he was named in 2012 as minister of commerce and industry. He retained the post in the cabinets of December 2012 and July 2013. He was chosen to serve as the deputy premier and finance minister in January 2014 and acting oil minister in November 2015.
* Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, the minister of state for cabinet affairs, born in 1971, started his career as a political researcher at the cabinet general secretariat. Later, he occupied a number of ranking positions until he was picked as the minister of information in February 2012. In the cabinet of December 2012, he served as the minister of state for cabinet affairs. He kept the same jobs in 2013 and 2014.
* Dr Hind Subaih Al-Subaih, the minister of social affairs and labor, began climbing the echelon in 2007 as the assistance undersecretary at the civil service commission. She was chosen as the minister of social affairs and labor in January 2014.
* Yasser Abul, the minister of state for housing affairs, born in 1973. He was named to the key post in January 2014.
* Jamal Al-Harbi, the minister of health, born in 1961, was named as the assistant undersecretary for medical services in June 2013.
* Abdul-Rahman Al-Mutawa, the minister of public works, had served as the deputy director general for construction at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training.
* Essam Al-Marzouq, the minister of oil, electricity and water. He had served as chairman of the Kuwaiti bourse, board member at Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and chief of operations at Kuwait Petroleum International.
* Faleh Al-Azb, the minister of justice, had served in the investigations department at the interior ministry and as an advisor at the ministry of foreign affairs.
* Mohammad Al-Fares, born in 1966, served in key posts at Kuwait University in 2002 and 2007 before occupying the university general secretariat post in 2016.
* Mohammad Al-Jabri, the minister of awqaf and Islamic affairs, born in 1974, served at Kuwait Airways, became parliament member in December 2012 and 2013. He is also a member of the current parliament (the National Assembly). - KUNA
