KUWAIT: The lunar month of Ramadan will begin on Saturday, May 27, meteorologist Adel Al-Saadoun told KUNA yesterday. The lunar calendar is the reference Muslims use for marking religious occasions and seasons. Ramadan is the ninth month, devoted for fasting from sunrise till sunset with more prayers and acts of worship observed by devotees. The start of Ramadan is not announced according to astrological calculations alone. A testimony of sighting the crescent by two men or a man and two women is required for the call to begin fasting. - KUNA
