KUWAIT: A 700-meter ramp will be opened today for drivers coming from the Sixth Ring Road to Farwaniya Hospital and Ardhiya as well as the institutions and colleges' in Ardhiya, Public Works Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Roads Engineering Engineer Ahmad Al-Hussan said.

 

The ramp is part of the project of constructing and maintaining intersections of main roads with the seventh and sixth ring roads that lead to the new residential areas in west Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, he said. The project aims at easing traffic towards the new university in Shadadiya, he added.

 

Committee to review expats' licenses

 

The parliament's interior and defense committee approved the formation of a permanent committee to review drivers licenses of all expats, and that reports must be submitted every three months to the interior minister, while sending violators to the public prosecution. The proposal was made by MP Waleed Al-Tabtabae.

 

Conflict of interests

 

The government rejected the proposed law related to the conflict of interests, which the parliament's legislative committee almost completed debating it. The government said that the law's articles are available in other effective laws, which also meet its purpose.

 

The proposed law, which was presented by MP Riyadh Al-Adsani and others, said in explaining behind its proposal that "due to what the conflict of interest may cause in the form of problems and risks on the stability of state departments, which in turn threatens development in general and compromise the laws clout. Also, because conflict of interest is one of the corruption facts that were mentioned in the UN treat on fighting corruption."

 

Iraqi fishermen

 

The National Reform Faction in Iraq accused Kuwait of detaining some Iraqi fishermen who were in the joint waters between the two countries, and demanded that Kuwait should not hold them accountable. Member of the Iraqi Parliament Zaher Al-Abbadi said that Kuwaiti authorities detained some Iraqi fishermen who were in the Khor Abdullah Canal. He said that among the fishermen, there are three brothers, and asked his foreign and interior ministers to intervene for their release.
