KUWAIT: The Iraqi defense ministry issued a humanitarian call urging Iraqi citizens who have any information about the whereabouts of the remains of Iraqis or Kuwaitis who were declared missing in the aftermath of the former Iraqi regime's invasion of Kuwait in 1990 to come forward, promising them generous rewards in return for verified pieces of information.

The ministry's statement also urged citizens to report any information about missing documents from Kuwait's Amiri Diwan archive and Kuwaiti possessions to the media, moral guidance directorate or the ministry's human rights directorate.

Colleges' transfer

Kuwait University's deputy rector for planning and development Dr Adel Al-Husseinan said that coordination is in progress with the constructional program of the Sabah Al-Salem University City (Al-Shedadiya University) to transfer six colleges from their present campus to Shedadiya by 2019.

Husseinan added that special teams were formed to facilitate the transition. He also explained that the colleges likely to be transferred are likely to include the colleges of education, sharia and Islamic studies, arts, business administration, life sciences, social sciences and probably the college of engineering and petroleum.

New sports bill

The parliament's youth and sports committee is scheduled to convene this afternoon in the presence of Minister of Commerce and Industry and Acting Minister of State for Youth Affairs Khaled Al-Roudhan to discuss the new sports bill, said parliamentary sources. The sources added that the meeting's agenda also includes discussing a bill on establishing an anti-doping authority and other proposals on amending decree law number 42/1978 pertaining with sports organizations and law number 5/2007 pertaining with the activities of Kuwait Olympic Committee, sports unions and clubs.

Meanwhile, the parliament's public facilities committee is set to discuss the problem of traffic congestions and debate short, medium and long term possible solutions. In addition, the sources added that the committee entrusted with investigating the disappearance of containers from Shuwaikh Port will meet today to prepare its final report's draft to be referred to the parliament.
