KUWAIT: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) issued a temporary ban on importing poultry and its products from Kuwait because of the spread of a ‘highly vicious’ avian flu virus in Kuwait. SFDA had notified the Saudi foreign ministry, which in turn contacted Kuwait Municipality concerning the ban, which exempts eggs and poultry meat and products that are treated with heat or any other method that would kill the virus, provided a health certificate accompanies the shipment showing the treatment method. The sources stressed that the ban would remain in effect until further notice. — Al-Qabas
