Six cars gutted in Shuwaikh blaze

KUWAIT: Firemen in Shuwaikh battled a blaze that engulfed six cars and a truck that were parked near a garage in the area. Firemen succeeded in containing the flames and kept the fire from spreading. No injuries were reported. Meanwhile, an investigation was opened to investigate the cause of the fire.

Smuggling foiled

Kuwait International Airport customs officers foiled an attempt to smuggle nearly 6,000 Tramadol tablets from an Asian country. The suspect, Asian, hid the tablets in a secret place near the bottom of his suitcase. He was taken to the proper authorities to face charges.

Liquor factory busted

Police discovered a local liquor factory in Ahmadi yesterday. Tips were received about an Asian man brewing liquor in his house, so the p[lace was raided. Police found an evaporator, distillation systems in addition to 31 drums and 483 bottles that were ready for sale.

Abuse

A bedoon girl attempted suicide by drinking bleach, and was rushed to hospital where doctors managed to save her life. Meanwhile, the doctors noticed bruises and other signs of abuse on the victim's body, including a swollen upper lip. Police were informed about the case.

Training course

The second training course for central command for marine accidents management is being held at Ras Al-Salmiya sea rescue center under the patronage of Lt General Khalid Al-Mikrad, Director General of Kuwait Fire Service. Several GCC officers as well as military establishments will participate. The course will conclude on Thursday.

Awareness campaign

Interior Ministry Relations and Security Information said that the civil defense department participated in an awareness campaign for public and private schools. It said that booklets and guidelines were distributed on this occasion.
