KUWAIT: South Al-Mutla City project has created a significant change in the housing philosophy in Kuwait and created a situation of optimism among those concerned with the housing issue, in addition to lowering of rent prices of private housing in the country.
The new city’s population is expected to reach about 400,000 inhabitants and will contribute to the reduction of the waiting period to get a home, especially as it is the largest residential city in Kuwait, as well as resolving the housing issues, rising of rent and the elimination of excess housing in urban areas.
Efforts of the government, parliament and youth have resulted in the signing of the contract to build the city which will be held on an area of 102 square kilometers, including 90 square kilometers spreading over residential usages that will include all facilities and public buildings that cover all the services and keep pace with the requirements of the service ministries.
Head of the Housing Committee at the Parliament MP Faisal Al-Kanderi said that the signing of the infrastructure contract for South Al-Mutla City project came after cooperation between the parliament and the government during the committee meetings which agreed on many laws and regulations made by the MPs in this regard. The project includes 30,000 housing units, he said, adding that the signing of the contract was a breakthrough towards ending the suffering of the citizens who are eagerly awaiting homes.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Real-Estate Union Qais Al-Ghanim said the government’s cooperation with the private sector, whether domestic or foreign will develop these houses to accommodate the requirements of Kuwaiti youth and meet all their needs. – KUNA
