KUWAIT: As HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Fifth International Shooting Grand Prix approaches, the Sports Public Authority (SPA) Shooting Tournament was concluded at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex. The tournament was in the Olympic shotgun events (skeet, trap and double trap) for men and women, and lasted three days.
The closing ceremony was attended by President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations Eng Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi, Secretary General Obaid Al-Osaimi, Assistant Treasurer Adnan Al-Ibrahim and board member Nidhal Al-Asem.
Results of the tournament are as follows:
Skeet men: Mohammad Al-Daihani, Mansour Al-Rashidi, Abdallah Al-Rashidi.
Trap men: Abdallah Al-Rashidi, Abdelrahman Al-Faihan, Talal Al-Rashidi.
Double trap men: Hamad Al-Afasi, Saad Al-Mutairi, Ahmad Al-Afasi.
Trap women: Sarah Al-Hawal, Shahad Al-Hawal, Hajar Abdelmalek.
Skeet juniors: Hamad Al-Khalidi, Hamad Al-Ablani, Yousuf Al-Mutairi.
Trap juniors: Nasser Al-Khalidi, Yousuf Al-Mutairi, Khalid Al-Murad.
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti champion Ahmad Al-Afasi yesterday came fourth in double-trap competition held as part of Qatar’s international shooting tournament.
The double-trap competition was won by the Italian, Marco Innocenti. Second came his fellow citizen, Daniele Di Spigno, while the Russian, Vasily Mosin, ranked third.
Innocenti, after the crowning, said in a press statement that the competition was very heated, lauding Qatar’s successful organization of the international tournament.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti referee, Muath Al-Rashed, expressed satisfaction at the Kuwaiti performance in this category, facing world’s top champions in the game and coming out among the top winners in a neck-and-neck contest.
The nine-day championship got underway on Thursday. In addition to the Kuwaiti team of top shooters, there 280 competitors involved in the contests, representing 37 Gulf, Arab and foreign countries.
