KUWAIT: Kuwait Telecommunications Company - stc, a world-class digital leader providing innovative services and platforms to customers, enabling the digital transformation in Kuwait, celebrated the World Environment Day at The Avenues, which was organized in collaboration with National Geographic Ultimate Explorer. The initiative coincides with the global event that was established in 1972 by the United Nations (UN) at the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment.

Serving as a continuation of stc's awareness campaigns and ongoing commitment to protect the environment, the Company organized the initiative under the slogan "Be The Change". The awareness campaign included a large container placed at stc's booth to collect plastic water bottles in Phase 4 of The Avenues, where stc Corporate Communications team held interactive activities with the children and distributed eco- friendly souvenirs.

As part of the collaboration with National Geographic Ultimate Explorer, 30 vouchers were given to the participants who contributed in the mission of collecting plastic water bottles. In addition, competitions took place for entrance tickets to the "National Geographic Ultimate Explorer" located at Assima Mall whereby winners will get a chance to experience and learn more about the environment at the attraction, as well as the different ways to preserve it.

In line with its corporate social responsibility strategy, stc will deliver all collected bottles to a recycling factory with the objective of reducing waste output within the community. Commenting on the initiative, Danah Al-Jasem, General Manager of Corporate Communications at stc, said, "As members of our community and in line with our commitment as a pioneer in the telecom industry giving us a chance to voice out such beneficial initiatives to the public audience, we greatly believe in the importance of preserving and protecting our environment to build a more sustainable future for the upcoming generations.

Al-Jasem added, "this collaboration with National Geographic Ultimate Explorer is the outcome of the beneficial & fruitful relationships stc has bridged with different organizations & entities within the public and private sectors yielding to numerous initiatives and activities that can add value to the community.
