Sardinia, Italy Sardinia, Italy

Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and an autonomous region of Italy. The nearest land masses are the island of Corsica, the Italian Peninsula, Sicily, Tunisia the Balearic Islands and Provence. - Wikipedia

On one of my trips to Italy, I managed to drop by beautiful Sardinia. In Sardinia, there are many attractions to see and visit. I decided to go see Porto Cervo. Since I've only been to Porto Cervo, I'll combine this article with some recommendations from my personal experience and others from my research and readings.

How to get there.

* BY AIR: Flight to Cagliari Airport

* BY BOAT: the island is accessible by ferry from Genoa, Fiumicino (the port of Rome), Naples, Palermo and Corsica. Sardinia's ports are at Olbia, Golfo Aranci, Porto Torres and Cagliari.

* CAR RENTAL: You will need a car to get to the Costa Smeralda. I rented from Hertz.

In terms of accommodations, a few hotels come to mind:

* Cala Di Volpe Hotel in Costa Smeralda

* CALA GONONE: To explore the coves along the eastern coastline, as well as the Nuraghic sites and rugged terrain inland.

Other things in Sardinia:

* Parco Nazionale Arcipelago Di La Maddalena is a national park in the north of Sardinia.

* Kite surf at Isola dei Gabbiani

* Check out Cala Luna Beach

* Thirteen kilometers from northern Sardinia is Bonafacio on the island of Corsica, France. The city of Bonafacio is known as an upscale coastal resort. The harbor city of ancient Bonafacio was first settled in 828 AD by Count Bonafacio of Tuscany. It has a "lower" city on the water and an "upper" city located on a promontory. On clear days, the island of Sardinia can be seen from the promontory.
