KUWAIT: The 19th Scientific Symposium of the GCC History and Antiquities Society recommended giving more attention and care for documents and local historic writings in Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Chairman of the Organizing Committee, History Professor at Kuwait University Dr Abdelhadi Al-Ajmi said that the symposium recommended giving support to young researchers in the field of confirming the historic identity of GCC states, and deliver this image to the entire world.

 

The future development plans for GCC countries has history in its folds, and making it a source for strengthening the economic power through historical tourism, he added. "There is an increased interest in museums, antiquities and refurbishing historic sites in the GCC countries," he said, expressing appreciation to the role that the Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyya in Kuwait plays in this regard.

 

Ajmi, who also represents Kuwait in the GCC History and Antiquities Society, said that the 19th symposiums is considered one of the most important scientific gatherings in GCC countries as per the researches presented. Meanwhile, modern history professor in Saudi Arabia Dr Fayez Al-Badrani lauded the success of the 19th symposium and for being distinguished by a large number of attendees. - Al-Anbaa
