KUWAIT: Burglars failed in stealing an automated teller machine (ATM) from Qashaniya co-op and abandoned it after dragging it out of the co-op, said security sources. Case papers indicate that someone reported the theft and policemen immediately rushed to the scene to find that the burglars had broken open the co-op door, tied the ATM to a 4x4 vehicle and dragged it out for about 10 m before they decided to dump it, thinking that someone had spotted them. Policemen had to use videos from surveillance cameras of surrounding shops because there were none at the co-op. A case was filed and a search is on for the suspects

Domestic violence A woman filed a complaint against her husband, accusing him of assault and breaking her nose, said security sources. The wife explained that she found that her husband had only married her because he was after her money. She added that he had been asking her to give him a power of attorney for a while and when she refused, he assaulted her. A case was filed and the husband is being summoned for further investigations.

Burglar in custody A citizen with a criminal record was arrested for stealing several handbags and purses women had left in their vehicles before going for a jog, said security sources. Case papers indicate that a police patrol suspected someone weaving amongst parked vehicles in a suspicious way, and on approaching him, he ran, but was chased and arrested. The thief initially claimed that he had been jogging, but later confessed that was getting ready to break open a vehicle and steal its contents. The suspect admitted that he was new in the ‘business’ and that he had only stolen five women’s bags.

Maid charged with theft A female citizen reported that her Asian housemaid had stolen KD 690 from her bedroom and fled the house, said security sources. A case was filed and a search is on for the suspect.

Brothel busted A brothel was stormed in Rabiya, where security men arrested a pimp and four Asian prostitutes. Security sources said policemen also found a large amount of aphrodisiacs

Home robbery An Iraqi man reported that burglars had broken into his house in Taima in Jahra and stolen three million Iraqi dinars and a number of passports, said security sources.

Beggar arrested A female Gulf national was arrested while begging in a Fahaheel market, said security sources. She was taken to the proper authorities for further action. — Al-Rai/Al-Anbaa
