homeland, Kuwait, is passing through a new phase, one whose start is full of hope. The Kuwaiti public, along with some members of parliament, struggled for the sake of Kuwait, and were successful in restoring many things to their rightful place. But after the people of Kuwait voted for their representatives, not all reformists won. This is the nature of life, and whoever looks for a complete state will fail in the end.

Educated people, writers and partisans who form the cultural milieu in Kuwait were like a furious sea, and on its surface, there were sharks attacking those who differ with them. They were fighting to keep matters as they are. Social media was used to create a public opinion, each as they saw it, and the result was that we were deprived of the etiquette of dialogue by those who are supposed to teach it to the people.

Politicians and members of elected councils competed and fought - some were seeing Kuwait in front of them; others were seeing themselves in the mirror. Then the wise government distanced itself from the scene, so the haziness increased. Kuwait's street split between loyalists and the opposition. Loyal to whom, and opposing whom? Loyalty to some MPs and opposition to others. For the first time, the government was not party to the struggle, but was a spectator.

Observers could not determine exactly with whom the government stands and against whom. Those with knives were called in, who began tearing up things and some are still believing that they are right and others are wrong, despite the clarity of the scene. The discord deepened, and each side turned its back to the other, and distances between them increased daily, to a point they can no longer hear each other.

Those reformists who received the confidence from the people must fulfill their hopes. I wish they become the headlines of the coming stage. They do not claim they are always right; rather they are looking for the right in every corner. A side whose members are ready to listen to the other and they are ready to help the other side in order to come to an understanding. The reformists are ready to forgive the corrupt in order to change their path so they become closer, because antagonism only produces antagonism at the end.

There is optimism today that the fight is over. It is wrong to categorize any side as victorious, as in issues related to the homeland, we are all victorious or vanquished. Souls began to calm down, and many people in Kuwait are screaming and swearing less; rather, many are speaking about the start of national reconciliation, which will become the title of the 'Kuwait of the Future' book.

A Kuwait of the future which we all are talking about and wish it for our next generations. Despite our pleasure over our grandchildren's laughter, we quicky become worried about them, because of our present. The figures of the World Bank and local and international reports indicate a lazy present, because we still haven't prepared for them what will make them secure about their future.

Whoever thinks he is always right will be part of the problem, because each side has some benefits, and when they unite, the benefit will be complete.

Those who are champions of strife and influence are asked to rethink, because they have an interest to protect their grandchildren. Man will not be happy only with money, and if the homeland is lost, the human being will not be of any value even if he wears the best of clothes and lives in palaces, because the human being is the homeland. Those whose country is lost look for something that is more precious than themselves - a homeland.

Let us build our homeland as we celebrate leaders who understand and the will of people who love their country and work for its sake. This is Kuwait.
